Moncur did do that. It was in the 5-4 Bradford game. I think he gave away a penalty at the same time.

I was there that night too. The phrase 'game of 2 halves' was never so apt!

Wright definitely scored quite close to one of their goals, but I don't remember the running around with his shirt over his head thing. I may be wrong. I do remember Moncur doing that once though and conceding a goal while he was still at it, I think it was against either Bradford or Barnsley.

That 2-2 Liverpool game was the one when Keller score direct from a corner and Rio tried to claim it, wasn't it?

That was the same season that we almost won at Anfield - was 2-2 when Sinclair and Gavin Holligan got through against the keeper, and I think Sinclair put it over.

97-99 were probably my favourite years of following West Ham - had the youngsters, plus Sinclair, the start of Di Canio, players like Keller, Hartson and Berkovic. Was a good squad.

I was setting rat-traps on a tiny atoll 95 miles from the date-line in the Pacific - no internet, no phone, no electricity, nothing. I missed all our early season games that year. No one to talk to but one other co-worker and 5000 odd Laysan albatrosses.

If I remember rightly, Ian Wright had just scored his second (our third) and was still running around with shirt over his head when Wimbledon scored their first.

(Unless it's memory playing tricks)

'kin 'ell... that was the only time I managed to take Mrs FEH to the Boleyn.

On the plus side, for about the next six months she didn't complain about my incessant swearing at any little thing. She realised that compared to others I don't swear all that fucking much!

I can remember being in the US at the time and somehow found out we were 3-0 up at half time. Didn't know the full time score until I returned home and was baffled to say the least.

The West Brom still haunts me. 3-0 up, Defoe off for the 3rd? time that season, 4-3 loss.

I remember Listening to Capital Gold and after the 3rd goal went in the reporter said something like "this is so easy for West Ham" .. Still can remember the sinking , helpless feeling as they came back to win

What sort of sad cunt would bring this up after a good end to the transfer window and a win at Liverpool?

those two things and this thread are linked how?

Or do you suggest I nip back in time and have a more exciting match on this day seeing as we had a good transfer window and an amazing result at Liverpool?

I remember that game very well. I stood there at 3-0 up thinking amazing but as soon as that first Wombledon goal went in, the first we had conceded that season you could see the confidence just dissappear and we were 3-1 up. Only at Wet Ham. Mind you we managed to do it again against West Brom years later when Defoe got himself sent off when we were 3-0 up. FFS

17 years! FMOB. It was blowing a gale but we bottled it, despite the likes of Razor and Hartson:

Shaka Hislop
Ian Pearce
Neil Ruddock
Javier Margas
Eyal Berkovic
Trevor Sinclair
Stan Lazaridis
John Moncur
Frank Lampard
John Hartson
Ian Wright
